CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois wide receiver Hank Beatty was named a Sporting News Midseason All-American and was added to the Biletnikoff Award watch list, it was announced Wednesday morning.
Beatty is having one of the top seasons in college football, as he ranks fourth in the nation and second in the Big Ten in receiving yards (617) and 10th in the nation in all-purpose yards (812). He has caught 39 passes through seven games, helping Illinois to a 5-2 record against the #4 strength of schedule in the nation.Â
Beatty has also been one of the most versatile players in the country, as he is the only player in the nation with a passing, rushing, receiving, and punt return touchdown this season.Â
Beatty and Illinois are off this weekend before a trip to Washington on Saturday, Oct. 25.Â
