GREENVILLE, SC (WAND) -- Illinois’ last trip to the national title game was more than 20 years ago, but this March a return may be closer than ever.
Through a combined effort of size, shooting ability, veteran experience and young ambition the Illini are poised to make a deep run.
There are plenty of guys who have been here before in an orange and blue uniform Kylan Boswell, Ben Humrichous, Jake Davis and Tomislav Ivisic. And guys who have wearing other colors like transfer Zvonimir Ivisic.
And they blend perfectly with the young guns who are eager to make their mark. But regardless of their role - Brad Underwood is communicating a clear message this week have fun, and let it fly.
Illinois takes on Penn Thursday night in the first round. Tip off is scheduled for approximately 8:25 p.m. (CT)
