CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) -- The name of the game this off season for Illinois men's basketball was retention and they did just that bringing back five key members of last years final four team and that all started with David Mirkovic being the first to announce his return back in April.

Mirkovic is entering his second year with the Illini after a great freshman season, where he averaged 13.3 points per game, and 8 rebounds a game. He also shot 48% from the field.

But along with his play making fans fell in love with his personality both on and off the court.

Mirkvic had the chance to go back home and play for the Montenegro national team but decided to stay in Champaign and work on becoming stronger.
