DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Following a roughly 3 hour delay due to rainy conditions, the Millikin University baseball team was eliminated from the NCAA D3 tournament, losing to Wartburg College, 2-1.
After the Knights struck first in their first plate appearance, Big Blue responded in the bottom of the 2nd to tie the game. Gage Reynolds singled home Sam Bushur from second base, bringing the score level at 1 apiece.
The contest was scoreless until the 7th frame, when Wartburg broke through on a base hit to bring in the eventual game-winning run.
The Knights' starting pitcher, Emerson Alberhasky, struck out 10 batters in the outing, while surrendering just 5 hits.
Millikin ends the season with an overall record of 35-10, including the CCIW tournament championship.
