Three Millikin Players Earn CCIW Women’s Basketball All-Conference Honors

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) -- Millikin University senior women’s basketball players Elyce Knudsen, Sophie Darden and Bailey Coffman were named to the 2024 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Basketball All-Conference Team on February 19.

For the third straight season, Knudsen was named the CCIW’s Lori Kerans Student-Athlete of the Year and selection to the All-Conference First Team (unanimous selection). Darden joined Knudsen on the All-Conference First Team with Coffman being named to the All-Conference Second Team. It is the fourth career All-Conference selection for Coffman being named to the First Team in (2020-21 and 2022-23) and the Second Team in 2021-22.

Knudsen is among NCAA Division III’s top scorers average 26.2 points per game. She has scored 656 points and is needs 23 points to break the Millikin record for points in a season with 679. Earlier this season, Knudsen became the all-time leading scorer for Millikin women’s basketball with 2,167 points. Knudsen has made 259 field goals and is shooting 53.5 percent from the field. He has 87 assists, 57 steals and 32 blocked shots.

Darden has posted 15 double double on the season. She is averaging 14.6 points and 9.1 rebounds a game. Darden has 59 steals, 55 assists along with five blocks on the season.

Coffman is averaging 15 points per game along with 6.5 rebounds. She has 48 assists, 26 steals and 18 blocks. Coffman has scored 346 points this season moving into ninth on the Millikin all-time career scoring list with 1,395.

 

Millikin finished the regular season 21-4 overall and 13-3 in the CCIW. The third seeded Big Blue host the sixth seeded Elmhurst University Bluejays on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. in the open round of the CCIW Tournament.
