DECATUR, IL. (WAND) - Happy Tuesday! The cold air has settled into Central Illinois this morning with wind chills below 0 for most of the area. Temperatures will slowly warm up throughout the day, and we should see a mix of sun and clouds for the early afternoon. Temperatures will stay below freezing all day, and overcast skies will move in for the evening.
Snow chances will arrive around 8 this evening and linger through Tuesday morning. Snow totals look to be less than an inch for most of the area. Temperatures will stay steady overnight in the low 20s as winds shift out of the south. The snow chances will wrap up around 6 in the morning on Tuesday as temperatures start to climb quickly. Don’t expect the snow to make much of an impact on the morning drive.
Temperatures will be above freezing by 9 am, and highs in the 50s will move in for the afternoon. The rest of the week is looking much nicer, as we return to a late spring and early summer feel. High temperatures will soar into the 60s and 70s by the end of the week, with no rain chances through the weekend.
