DECATUR, IL. (WAND) - Happy Friday! A quiet and calm end to the week, but more severe weather is heading our way early next week. Friday is looking pretty comfortable. Temperatures are starting in the upper 50s and low 60s this morning. We should have mostly sunny skies for the first half of the day, but clouds will build in throughout the afternoon. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s and low 80s by the end of the day.

Partly to mostly cloudy skies will hang around to start Saturday, but they won’t last long. Mostly sunny skies will take over by the afternoon with calm winds. Temperatures will warm up quickly from the low 60s into the low 80s by the afternoon. Our next weather maker will move in on Sunday afternoon.

The Storm Prediction Center has put most of Central Illinois under a Slight (level 2 out of 5) risk for severe storms on Sunday afternoon. Widespread storms will move in for the late morning, and strong winds and heavy rain will be the main threats with this storm system. Have indoor plans for Father’s Day, as it looks like we could have another 2 inches of rain or higher for most of Central Illinois.

Rain and storms will exit the area overnight Sunday into Monday early morning. Much calmer conditions return for Monday. Below-average highs in the 70s will hang around for most of next week.
