DECATUR, IL. (WAND) - Happy Sunday! High pressure moves in behind yesterday’s snowy system, and as a result, drier conditions return and gusty winds pick up.

Temperatures today are at their high this morning for many areas across the region. Although we can expect afternoon temperatures in the mid to low 20s, gusty winds up to 35 mph will leave us feeling more like low teens and single digits.

Tonight, cloudy skies continue overnight into tomorrow morning, but another fast-moving, weak disturbance will bring more snow to central Illinois by tomorrow afternoon. With the drier and frigid air, we’ll likely get more powdery snow that will easily put a coating across the region. We could even see some hometowns with over 3 inches of snow, especially areas north of I-72.

Behind this second round of snowflakes, temperatures will gradually take a much colder pattern. Mornings will consistently be in the teens, and several days will see highs in the mid to low 20s. Overnights in the single digits cannot be ruled out.
