DECATUR, IL. (WAND) - It will be a dangerously cold start to the day as feels-like temperatures are well below 0. Wind chills could drop all the way down to 20 below 0 today before the sunshine starts to warm us up a little bit. High temperatures this afternoon will only climb into the teens, but the winds will die down throughout the day, so warmer temperatures are expected.

The good news is that this will be the coldest day of the workweek. Temperatures on Tuesday will climb into the low 30s with a mix of sun and clouds. Overnight lows into Wednesday morning will be significantly warmer in the 20s, and they should climb overnight as warmer air moves into the region. The warmest day of the next 7 will be on Wednesday as highs climb into the upper 30s.

The bitter cold air will return on Friday and Saturday with highs in the teens. Overnight lows this weekend will also be dangerously cold again in the low single digits. It looks like below-average temperatures will hang around as we close out January, so don’t expect much relief until next month.
