DECATUR, IL. (WAND) - Happy Sunday! After a rainy night, cooler and less humid air move in to bring a more comfortable forecast for the start of the week. However the NE shift has also allowed smoke from the Canadian wildfires to roll in as well.
Today we are dry behind last night’s cool front, much less humid and cooler with highs in the mid 80s, and sunshine returns. We are keeping the milder conditions around tonight with lows finally dipping back into the upper 60s. However our sunny skies may be more hazy throughout the day.
A large portion of Central Illinois, including those from Watseka to Charleston are under the red zone of air quality concerns, indicating unhealthy pollutants that advise everyone to limit outdoor activities, and unusually sensitive people to remain indoors. Areas from Maroa to Effingham are right on the line falling under the “unhealthy for sensitive groups” category. Those farther west and southwest should still monitor concerns, as a moderate air quality forecast remains in place.
These concerns may linger into our early Monday, so plan accordingly and be safe!
