DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The title says it all. It's a distinct possibility that this Thursday night will be the coldest for the rest of this Winter season. That's not to say it won't be cold. The next couple of months can easily be below average in the temperature department, and there will be several single-digit nights ahead. However, they may not be quite as cold as tonight.

Take the latest temperature map from earlier today, for example. Notice how Minneapolis is pretty much just as cold as Yellowknife, Canada. A good chunk of Alaska is also above zero degrees as well. That's still pretty cold, but not nearly as cold as the past two weeks.

The brutal cold source region for our air is moderating some. That said, spring is still a couple of months away, and Mother Nature is awfully fickle. So, stay tuned and stay warm.
