DECATUR, IL. (WAND) - Happy Thursday! It was a very comfortable Wednesday afternoon in the low 80s. It will be a little warmer today with high temperatures hitting the mid-50s. Clouds will increase throughout the day. Winds will be gusting out of the south and bringing in a bit more humidity. Temperatures will drop into the 60s tonight.

Storm chances will ramp up for Friday. Some of the models are showing a few scattered storms early in the day, but the severe weather threat won’t arrive until the afternoon. A frontal boundary will move in from the west, and this could trigger a few strong isolated storms for the afternoon and evening. There is a marginal risk (level 1  out of 5) for severe thunderstorms for areas north of I-72.

Southerly flow will push temperatures and humidity way up for the weekend. The severe storm threat will move out of the area on Saturday, but there will be a chance of scattered storms every day through next Tuesday.
