DECATUR, IL. (WAND) - A total lunar eclipse will take place over North America early tomorrow morning, but central Illinoisians will likely miss out on the view.
As the Earth moves between the sun and the Moon, it casts its shadow on the Moon, causing it to appear reddish-orange, hence the name “the Blood Moon.”
Clouds are building in tonight ahead of a rainy day setting up for tomorrow. While the lunar eclipse peaks at 6:33 am tomorrow, we’ll likely be blocked out by the clouds with the first round of scattered showers moving in around 7 or 8.
Expect heavy rain at times tomorrow, especially in the afternoon. Training and a few thunderstorms by the late afternoon will allow rain totals to peak around or over an inch by the end of the day for much of the I-72 corridor. Several more rounds of rain and thunderstorms are in store for the next several days this week.
