LINCOLN, Ill. (WAND) — The National Weather Service in Lincoln confirmed the touchdown of a tornado in Champaign County Sunday night.

According to the NWS, the tornado moved from the southwest corner of Champaign county to just north of Tolono. It moved 12 miles in 12 minutes doing EF1 damage to outbuildings and trees.

Multiple crashes occurred on area interstates Sunday afternoon due to high winds.

The tornado was 200 yards wide, with a peak wind of 90mph.
