DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) -  Severe storms ripped through parts of central Illinois late Wednesday morning into the middle of the afternoon. As was the case with the majority of the severe storms we've seen this year, there were thankfully no reports of injuries. Nonetheless, several skinny tornadoes did develop along with some damage.

The storm reports graphic likely shows more funnel clouds and tornadoes than actually occurred. The reason is multiple reports of the same tornado. The National Weather Service will send out survey teams to assess the damage and place an intensity rating on the individual storms.

Meanwhile, if you are part of a cleanup, rest assured after tonight, most of the time will be rain-free. However, Mother Nature is not done with us. The hottest weather of the year-to-date will arrive this weekend into next week.

Stay safe out there.
