DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Warmer weather will filter back into the region.  You're just going to have to wait a couple more days.

Take note how the storm track out of Canada matches the temperature gradient across the Lower 48. So, before the warmer weather across the Plains and Inter-Mountain West can arrive, we have to deal with compact clipper-type storms from Canada. The initial clipper arrives Thursday with hit/miss snow showers, mainly in northern and eastern counties. A warm front associated with a secondary clipper can also spark spotty precipitation Friday. None of this really helps with the current drought, unfortunately. That said, 50+ degrees will march into the region for the first time since the second week of January.

Stay safe, stay weather-aware and enjoy.
