DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - An investigation is underway after a woman was robbed in Decatur by two men posing as U.S. Marshals.Â
The Decatur Police Department said the woman reported she was robbed in her hotel room in the 3100 block of N. Water St. on Jan. 31 at 3:30 a.m.
The woman said two men knocked on doors in the hallway of the hotel. When she looked out, she said they told her they were U.S. Marshals. Before she could close her door, she said they forced their way in.Â
DPD said they showed a badge and told the woman they had a warrant out for her arrest. She told police they emptied her purse, stole money and three phones she had, and then left.Â
