DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Below 28 degrees for three or more consecutive hours is the definition of a hard freeze. We typically run into this scenario a couple times in Spring and Fall. Â
Guess what? Â
The flowers that have been blooming of late given the recent doses of warm weather will struggle under the cover of darkness tonight. A hard freeze is forecast across the area before it warms again later this weekend into early next week. While flowers that are very close to a house may not experience a hard freeze, a light freeze is not out of the question. That is when the air temperature is 28-32 for 3 or more consecutive hours. It will most certainly be best to cover them up tonight, then enjoy the sunshine for Saturday.Â
Stay warm and stay weather-aware.Â
