DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Below 28 degrees for three or more consecutive hours is the definition of a hard freeze. We typically run into this scenario a couple times in Spring and Fall.

Guess what?

The flowers that have been blooming of late given the recent doses of warm weather will struggle under the cover of darkness tonight. A hard freeze is forecast across the area before it warms again later this weekend into early next week. While flowers that are very close to a house may not experience a hard freeze, a light freeze is not out of the question. That is when the air temperature is 28-32 for 3 or more consecutive hours. It will most certainly be best to cover them up tonight, then enjoy the sunshine for Saturday.

Stay warm and stay weather-aware.
