DECATUR, IL. (WAND) - Another quiet day for central Illinois continues tonight, but the next chance for thunderstorms is on the horizon.Â
Tonight, skies will be mostly clear, and temperatures will dip into the upper 50s. We’ll wake up with clear skies, but clouds will gradually build in throughout the day ahead of our next weathermaker. This will also bring gusty winds to your Thursday afternoon and evening, along with high temperatures in the low 80s.Â
Thunderstorms could move in as early as late Thursday night; otherwise, the widespread activity will be mainly overnight into early Friday. This timing limits severe potential, but we can’t rule out an isolated severe thunderstorm with occasional strong wind gusts, heavy downpours, and small hail.Â
Dry air behind the cold front may limit the ability for storms to redevelop Friday afternoon and evening, and by Saturday, high pressure settles in with a quiet and sunny forecast.Â
Have a great night.Â
