DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Despite the Winter Solstice arriving this Sunday at 9:03 a.m., we're all kinda thinking this is the winter season. So, with that in mind, the early push of cold air this "season" is giving way to a milder run for several weeks.Â
That's not to say it won't get cold again until February, but the start of 2026 likely won't be as harsh in terms of cold and snow when compared to of late. Â
Winter Part II should commence later on, perhaps in February into March. Stay tuned. Â
In the meantime, we have the chance of patchy fog to kickstart our Wednesday. Outside of that, another mild day will be had, allowing snow to continue to melt. That makes tomorrow's weather in a word, suuuuweeet!
Looking ahead, no additional snow is headed our way between now and Christmas Day (outside of a lone snow shower on the tail end of Thursday's cold front), so the prospects of a white Christmas come in at zero. Â
I'm only the messenger!
As always, stay safe and stay weather-aware. Happy holidays!
