MATTOON, Ill. (WAND) - No one was injured following a "major" fire at ILMO in Mattoon Tuesday evening, according to the company's Facebook page.
ILMO posted the update before 9 p.m. and stated that its team is working to continue services "without interruption" at nearby branch locations, with the closest in Decatur.
The business is located on Lake Land Blvd., just north of Lake Land College.
According to the company’s website, ILMO is a “single-source provider of industrial, medical, and laboratory gases in bulk, micro-bulk, cryogenic and cylinder solutions.”
Several images online had shown a massive firefighter presence.
An employee at a hotel next door said he heard several explosions. He said police had streets blocked off, and added the fire was still burning around 7:30 p.m., believing a building on the property was on fire.
The Coles County Sheriff’s Office previously said on Facebook that there was a “large active fire scene” on Rt. 45. The office asked people to avoid the area.
It's still unclear how the fire started.
No other information is available at this time.
This is a developing story.
