DECATUR, IL. (WAND) - Did you see the sun as a ball of fire before setting on the western horizon? This time around, it isn't Canadian wildfires. It's Pacific Northwest wildfires. Since the smoke layer is pretty far aloft, we won't be able to smell any smoke and bad air quality is not expected. Matter of fact, you may not even notice much of a haze until you look at the brilliant orange color to the rising/setting sun.
This lofted smoke/haze will continue through Wednesday before thinning on Thursday. It should get washed out completely as rain moves back into the picture on Friday.
Stay safe and stay weather-aware.
