MAHOMET, Ill. (WAND) - Champaign native and Broadway star Jonathan Butler-Duplessis will be performing in Mahomet July 20.
Yellow & Co. is presenting an intimate show of songs and stories with University of Illinois alumni Butler-Duplessis.
Currently, Jonathan is starring as Aaron Burr on Broadway in the acclaimed show Hamilton.
Jonathan will perform numerous hits including some Hamilton songs along with sharing funny and interesting stories about his Journey to Broadway. He will also be bringing his wife, Kathleen, another talented singer/artist to perform as well.
Jonathan is also a former Acting Resident at The Milwaukee Repertory Theater.
Theatre credits include The Little Mermaid, In The Heights, Tommy (The Paramount Theater), Sister Act, Man of La Mancha (The Marriott Theatre) and Mr. Chickee's Funny Money (Chicago Children’s Theatre). Regional credits include Dreamgirls, The Color Purple (Milwaukee Repertory Theater), Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (Actors Theatre of Louisville) and The Merchant of Venice (Riverside Shakespeare Festival).
His wife, Kathleen is also an established composer and actress. She is the composer and lyricist of Chicago's new hit holiday musical, "Eleanor's Very Merry Christmas Wish." Other work includes a song featured in the musical "Girlhood," with CPA theatricals; her song “None of My Business," which premiered at the Chicago Humanities Festival; and and the viral internet hit “Gimme That Fat Cat,” which appeared in People magazine, Buzzfeed, Vice, and more. She is music director for The Second City, an improvisor, and AEA actress whose favorite theatres include Peninsula Players, TimeLine, and Theatre At The Center. Doors open at 6 p.m. for VIPs and 6:15 for general admission. The show starts at 7 p.m.
There will be a full bar on site for drinks for purchase. Some snacks will also be available for purchase. No outside food or drinks are allowed.
Tickets are $25 per person in advance or $30 the day of the event.
Limited VIP tickets are available for $45. These include preferred seating, early entry, a drink voucher, and a Hamilton swag bag.
This event is for age 16 and up.
