(WAND) — A dust storm warning has been issued for parts of central Illinois Sunday afternoon into Sunday night.
According to the National Weather Service, a blowing dust advisory is in place until 7 p.m. Sunday night, with wind gusts as high as 35-45 miles per hour expected.
The NWS said loose topsoil paired with the strong winds could lead to blowing dust and low visibility in rural areas because of increased agricultural activity.
The advisory is in place across much of central Illinois, including Macon, Sangamon and Champaign counties. A full view of the range of the advisory can be seen on the map below.

The National Weather Service said visibility could be anywhere between one quarter of a mile and one mile in blowing dust, creating hazardous driving conditions.
People with respiratory problems are advised to stay inside until the storm passes. The NWS is warning drivers to be ready for a sudden drop in visibility to near zero.
According to the agency, drivers who encounter blowing dust or sand while driving should pull off the road as far as possible, put the vehicle in park, let off the brake pedal and turn vehicle lights all the way off.
