TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — Even though the holidays are just days away, there are still people who prefer to buy their presents the week of. Small business owners in Taylorville say they are ready for incoming shoppers this week.

Many store owners shared that they have noticed an influx of customers this season, which comes at an opportune time for Taylorville. Years of revitalization and renovations have gone into restoring the square to its former glory, making it a true destination.

"When you don't have to travel 30, 40 minutes to a larger city to be able to shop for your loved ones for any holiday, that really makes a huge impact on your community," said Jessica Kocurek, owner of Uprooted by Willow and Birch.

Even if you cannot get out to the square to shop in person, you can shop online, order ahead, or even get virtual gift cards at many of the stores on the square.

"You can take advantage of shopping local and contributing to your local community, sometimes with the same ease that you can navigate those big box retailers," Kocurek said.

Many stores in Taylorville are open right up until Christmas Eve. For a list of hours for the stores in Taylorville, check Small Town Taylorville.
