The event was held Dec. 7.
24 kids from all over rural Champaign County got donuts before riding over to Walmart where they did some Christmas shopping. They ended the day with pizza and ice cream.
Shop with a Cop helps connect the police department with families in need during the holiday season.
“This is one of the ways my Office tries to give back to our community each year,” said Sheriff Dustin Heuerman. “It is an amazing, unforgettable experience that touches all of our hearts."
The annual Shop with a Cop event is made possible by donations from community members and local businesses.
Children are selected with input from the Sheriff’s Office’s School Resource Officers working in rural Champaign County K-12 schools.
