DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - For those prepping to brave the cold, Decatur's Polar Plunge will make its return this weekend.Â
The plunge will take place at noon on Saturday, March 7, on Lake Decatur Beach.
This marks the 25th year the event has taken place, and it will benefit Special Olympics of Illinois.Â
Participants will take a dip in Lake Decatur after fundraising $100 each. It will also include a free brunch for plungers and an exclusive Polar Plunge hoodie.Â
Ken Frye from the Decatur Park District said residents can still donate to the cause despite the short deadline.Â
"Never too late to give a donation to help out Special Olympics, it helps out the athletes with their participation in sporting events year-round," Frye said.
Those interested can register online.Â
