SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The Henson Robinson Zoo in Springfield opens this weekend.
Opening Weekend will be April 5 and 6.
Highlights of Opening Weekend include:
- Keeper Chats & Animal Encounters: Experience interactive presentations from zookeepers
- New merchandise and special gift shop sales throughout Opening Weekend
Starting April 5, the zoo will be open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM.
Admission fees is $7.50 for adults, $5.50 for children (3-12) and seniors (62+). Children 2 and under are free.
Upcoming events at the zoo include:
• Earth Day- April 22, 2025: Free seed packet handout, craft, and Animal Encounters. • PBS Family Fun Day- May 10, 2025, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.
• Mother’s Day - May 11, 2025: Moms get in free with a paying guest.
• Dr. Doolittle Day – May 31,2025.
• Father’s Day – June 15, 2025: Dads get in free with a paying guest.
• Zoolie Ghoulie – Dates to be announced in October.
• Zoo Lights – November 28 thru December 23, 2025.
