(WAND) - Monday marked the beginning of National Farm Safety and Health Week, running Sept. 15-22.
The Illinois Sheriff's Association is reminding residents of the Prairie State to be especially careful around farm equipment, with over 27 million acres of Illinois farmland.
That includes careful driving near farm vehicles on roadways and taking proper safety measures when working on the farm.
The third week of September has been recognized as Farm Safety Week since 1944.
