DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Macon Resources hopes to “Paint the Town Orange," to raise awareness of and promote inclusion for people with developmental disabilities.
March is celebrated nationally as Developmental Disability Awareness Month. “Paint the Town Orange” partners will receive a handmade orange paperchain to display at businesses, orange ribbons for staff to wear throughout the week, and a framed graphic detailing how to promote awareness and inclusion of people with developmental disabilities.

“The goal of this campaign is to promote inclusion and acceptance of people with developmental disabilities,” says Amy Bliefnick, President/CEO of Macon Resources. “Sixteen percent of people in Macon County have a developmental disability, and this month is so important because we want people everywhere to know how much value they add to our world.”
MRI is a nonprofit organization in Decatur, Illinois, that provides services to promote the growth, independence, and self-worth of children and adults with developmental disabilities.
