DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The Macon County Conservation District is hosting a public open house for residents to view the proposed plans for the Big Creek Riparian Greenway Corridor and Bikeway Acquisition Grant on September 10 from 5 to 6 p.m.
The public open house will take place at the Rock Springs Nature Center.
The project is meant to protect the corridor along Big Creek, and is expanding the connection to Spitler Woods. Organizers say this will, "create a valuable wildlife corridor establish a link between Mt. Zion, the Mt. Zion bike trail, Fort Daniel Conservation Area, and the newly acquired historic farmstead."
