Overnight closure to open first new ramp on I-57, I-74 interchange project near Champaign

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — IDOT announced on November 15 that there will be an overnight lane closure on the westbound Interstate 74 ramp to the northbound I-57 as well as the Prospect Avenue ramp to westbound I-74 until the morning of November 16.

IDOT said in a news release that the overnight closures are necessary to complete road stripping. The work starts on Saturday night at 9 p.m. and both ramps are expected to open by 6:00 a.m. on November 16. They add this as the first new ramp opening, which is a major milestone for the I-57/74 interchange project.

IDOT added drivers should expect delays and should allow extra time for trips. If possible, they suggest drivers take alternate routes. And they remind drivers to pay attention to changed conditions including work zones, speed limits, and not use any mobile device.
