WATSEKA, Ill. (WAND) - A Watseka man has been arrested after being accused of repeatedly trying to steal a gun.Â
On Tuesday, the Watseka Police Department was called to Runnings of Watseka after management reported a man in the store who was wanted in connection with the attempted theft of a gun on two different occasions.Â
Officers identified the suspect as Kyle J. Gillespie, 30. He was riding his bike westbound on U.S. Highway 24 in front of Dralle's, and officers said he tried to run from them. He was ultimately arrested in the Scotchmon's East parking lot.Â
Police said Gillespie was identified as the person captured on store security cameras trying to break into the gun counter on both Friday night, April 17, and Monday night, April 27.Â
Gillespie has prior felony convictions and was taken to the Iroquois County Jail where he was charged with two counts of Attempted Burglary, two counts of Attempted Unlawful Possession of Weapon by Felon, Criminal Damage to Property over $500, and Resisting Arrest.Â
