DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The annual Macon County Conservation District pancake breakfast started in 1996, and was held until 2010. Now, the district has brought back the tradition to celebrate their 60th anniversary.

On Saturday, district staff and volunteers served an all-you-can-eat breakfast of pancakes, sausage, orange juice, milk, and coffee. Staff also hosted free educational maple syrup programs.

Alysia Callison, director of program services, said they are celebrating all they have accomplished to connect the community with nature.

"Our goal is to get people outdoors, get people enjoying nature, and protecting what we have so that not just we can enjoy it, but people in the future can enjoy it as well," Callison said.
