Rock Springs pancake breakfast in 1998

Young volunteers help serve pancakes and sausage at the Pancake Breakfast in 1998. 

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The 60th anniversary celebration of the Macon County Conservation District will kick off with a nostalgic pancake breakfast. 

The event will be held Saturday, February 28 from 8-11 a.m. at the Rock Springs Nature Center, 3939 Nearing Lane in Decatur. 

The cost is $10 per person. 

There will be educational maple syrup programs at 8:30, 9:30, and 10:30 a.m. that are free to attend. 

Conservation District staff and volunteers will be serving an all-you-can-eat breakfast of pancakes, sausage, orange juice, milk, and coffee. 

Tickets will be available to purchase on the day of the event, but advance purchase is strongly encouraged. 

The annual pancake breakfast started in 1996. The event was held until 2010. 

This year, the tradition is being brought back.
