DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A prescribed burn is planned near the Lake Decatur dam.Â
Between March 18 and March 20, the City of Decatur is planning a potential prescribed burn of City-owned natural area restoration located south of the Lake Decatur dam and west of US 51.
The prescribed burn will be done by trained and experienced professionals. It is designed to decrease invasive species and to encourage the growth of native plants.Â
Local authorities and fire officials have been notified the burn will be taking place.
The burn is dependent on favorable weather conditions.Â
