(WAND) - Dimitri, a Russian Rat Snake, from the Scovill Zoo visited the WAND news studio on July 16.

July 16 is National Snake Day. 

Dimitri is 8 years old. They can live in human care for 15-20 years. While everyone may not be a fan of snakes, they are crucial to our ecosystem. 

The Scovill Zoo is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
