Pills, tablets, medication

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — The Sangamon County Sheriff's Office is teaming up with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to host a drug take back event on Saturday, April 26.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sangamon County Department of Public Health building.

It is part of the DEA's National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, which offers anonymous disposal of unwanted medications at local drop-off locations across the country.

"For more than a decade, the event has helped Americans easily rid their homes of unneeded medications—those that are old, unwanted, or expired—that too often become a gateway to addiction," says the Sangamon County Sheriff's Office.

The DEA will take tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs. They will not accept illegal drugs or syringes.
