MATTOON, Ill. (WAND) — Good things are brewing in Mattoon.

"I've never been a part of something so amazing," Presleigh Furry the general manager of Milk and Honey Coffee House told WAND News.
Furry, and her team of baristas, spent Tuesday morning making different lattes and coffees. As each one was topped off with a lid, they were carefully carried into a room before becoming a key part of a special gift.
"When you experience a travesty, such as damage from a storm, we just want to help any way we can..." said Furry. "And this is the way we can."
Following the devastation that struck Neoga schools, many community members began looking for ways to help rebuild.
Milk and Honey Coffee House has been working hard at handcrafting care packages for local teachers. Each package features a mini bouquet and a large coffee drink of their choice.Â
"We want to be a blessing to the schools during this time..." said Shelby McDowell, owner of the coffee house. "They are hurting! Teachers are having to relocate and there was so much loss within classrooms."
With every $20 care package purchased, the money goes towards construction of the damaged school buildings. So far, the shop has raised over $1,000 dollars.
"These funds are going to a school that could really use our help and our encouragement right now," added McDowell.
Each care package drop off continues to surprise teachers. With a little caffeine, flowers, and a special note, the coffee house hopes to spread more than just a sweet treat.Â
"That's what's beautiful about coffee shops," Furry said with a smile. "We don't just serve coffee. We bring light. We bring love. We not only bring goodness to the school, but bring goodness to our community as well."
