SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The University of Illinois Springfield Campus Child Advocates student organization will place blue pinwheels on campus for Child Abuse Prevention Month.
The blue pinwheel is a national symbol of child abuse and neglect prevention.
Students will be placing the pinwheels on the UIS Quad near the colonnade at 1 p.m. Monday, April 14.Â
The pinwheels will be placed followed by brief remarks and a moment of silence to honor children who have died as a result of abuse or neglect.
The pinwheels represent playfulness, joy and childhood.
