14-year-old killed after SUV strikes go-cart in Christian County

CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - A 14-year-old was killed after an SUV hit a go-cart he was driving in Christian County.

Christian County Sheriff's deputies were called to Co. Highway 10, 1 tenth of a mile West of Morrisonville Tuesday night at 6:48 for a crash.

Deputies said 14-year-old Nicholas Debrun of Morrisonville was driving a go-cart, going west, when he lost control and traveled into the eastbound lane. An SUV that was going east tried to stop but was unable to and struck the go-cart.

Debrun was rushed to Taylorville Memorial Hospital, but he did not survive.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office, Christian County Coroner’s Office, Morrisonville Palmer Fire Department, Morrisonville Ambulance and Dunn’s Ambulance assisted with the crash and investigation.
