Christian County drug seizure

TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - Two people were arrested in connection with a major drug seizure in Christian County. 

On Wednesday, November 26, the Taylorville Police Department, in coordination with the Christian County Sheriff's Office, finished an ongoing investigation into illegal drug distribution in Christian County.

Over several months, authorities said they uncovered a network involved in the distribution of cannabis and methamphetamine in Christian County.

Police got a search warrant, which led to the execution of a targeted operation the evening of November 26. The Taylorville Police Department used the Emergency Response Team, which developed and executed a tactical plan for the search.

The investigation was carried out in collaboration with the Christian County State's Attorney’s Office and several other local agencies, including the Stonington Police Department.

As a result of the search, officers seized 78 pounds of cannabis, "numerous" firearms, and methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl.

The following people were arrested in connection with the investigation:

· Steven Tucker, 54 years old, of Taylorville

· Chris Tucker, 52 years old, of Taylorville

The charges currently filed against the suspects are as follows:

· Steven Tucker: Delivery with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, Manufacturing and Delivery of Cannabis Over 5,000 Grams, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon. Possession of methamphetamine with Intent to deliver.

· Chris Tucker: Manufacturing and Delivery of Cannabis Over 5,000 Grams, Possession of Methamphetamine.

The Christian County State's Attorney’s Office is reviewing all the evidence and may file additional charges.
