JANESVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — Two young boys were killed in a house fire in Janesville early Friday morning.

WAND News spoke with Chief Kevin Rankin of the Lincoln Fire Protection District. He said they were called to the 100 block of E. Adams around 3:30 a.m. for a fire.

When they arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames.

Chief Rankin said 7-year-old Dravin Flick and 11-year-old Blaize Switzer were upstairs at the time of the fire and died. He said their parents were downstairs asleep, and woke up to smoke and flames.

Rankin said the parents were able to get out through a window but were then unable to get in the front door to get the children. He said they tried using a ladder to reach the children's bedrooms but could not due to the flames.
