DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Two people escaped a house fire in Decatur Monday.Â
The Decatur Fire Department was called to the 1200 block of Gayman Drive around 6:30 p.m.Â
Firefighters were met with heavy fire on the outside of the home that was extending into the roof.
They made their way into the house and searched for anyone inside.Â
The fire was brought under control quickly using multiple hose lines, and the roof was ventilated.
Two adults got out of the house. A cat was found inside and rescued by firefighters.
The homeowners will be staying with family.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Decatur Fire Department.
