Two people were hospitalized after a house explosion late Friday afternoon in Jacksonville. 

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - Two people were hospitalized after a house explosion late Friday afternoon in Jacksonville. 

The Jacksonville Fire Department said in a press release that emergency crews responded to a reported house explosion before 5 p.m. along East Morton Avenue. 

JFD stated that two people were found trapped inside the home and rescued by first responders on the scene. 

Both people were transported by ambulance first to Jacksonville Memorial Hospital, before being transferred to Springfield Trauma Center, according to Jacksonville FD. 

JFD is working to figure out the cause of the explosion.
