2nd person dies from injuries suffered during Champaign Co. crash

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - A second person has died after a Champaign County crash last week.

Troopers were called to the crash with serious injuries on Rt. 45 between Champaign County Rd. 2300 North and 2400 North on Nov. 16.

Air Life was called.

A garbage hauler and a passenger vehicle hit head-on.

33-year-old Brandon Rush was pronounced dead at 12:16 p.m. on Nov. 19 as a result of injuries received from the crash.

23-year-old Johnterrieon Carter of Urbana was pronounced dead at 6:41 on Friday.

Troopers told WAND at the scene that the blue 2010 Nissan Versa crossed the center, including a ditch in the median, to travel into the opposite lane and hit the garbage truck head-on. They say the Versa driver lost control of the car "for an unknown reason" before crossing over the median.

All occupants of the car were ejected.

Two 23-year-old men from Rantoul and Urbana were also injured. The 67-year-old Tuscola man behind the wheel of the garbage truck was also injured.
