DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A 6-year-old child who was killed after being struck by a car in Decatur Thursday morning has been identified by the coroner.
The child was identified as Noah Michael Edwards.
Decatur police were called to Oakland Ave. and Packard St. at 7:21 a.m. for a pedestrian who had been hit.

Officers said a vehicle was going southbound on Oakland from Grand Ave. A 6-year-old Decatur boy was waiting at the northwest corner of Oakland Ave and Packard St. to cross the street to get to the school bus stop on the other side of the street.
Police said Noah started to cross, walking east across Oakland Ave and was hit by the vehicle in the southbound lane.
He was rushed to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The vehicle was driven by 41-year-old Decatur woman. She was not injured.
DPD said there was no school bus present when the crash occurred.
The department also said there were no indications that the driver of the Nissan was under the influence.
Members of the Fatal Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene and are investigating the crash.
Decatur Public Schools sent WAND a statement saying:
"The morning of Thursday, April 10th Decatur Public Schools was made aware of a traffic accident in which a DPS student was hit by a car. We are deeply saddened to learn the student passed away. Our thoughts are with the student’s family, friends, and all those affected by this heartbreaking loss. We are offering support to the family, students, and staff during this difficult time."
