SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND)- Celebrating the Irish influence on America. For one local business owner, a trip to the Emerald Isle inspired her to bring that spirit to Central Illinois.

WAND's 'Around the 217' heads to Springfield to celebrate St. Patrick's Day at Darcy's Pint.

Darcy's Pint, best known for its horseshoes, is located off West Stanford Avenue and has become a popular spot for favorite meals and special occasions.

It was named one of America's best restaurants in 2022.

Hallie Pierceall, the owner of Darcy's Pint, stated, "There was sports bars everywhere and I had just got back from Ireland, and I said we really need to do an Irish pub, and I think it will go over well...You can't be in Springfield Illinois and not have a good horseshoe!"

The Irish Pub is the perfect place to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, showcasing the best of Irish cuisine. Shepherd's pie will satisfy the hungriest eater, and the Reuben sandwich begs to be bitten into.

The American Community Survey finds that nationwide, about 9.5 percent of Americans report being of Irish descent, making it the third most prominent ancestry in the U.S.
