MAROA, Ill. (WAND) - Maroa police arrested a man Sunday after officers were dispatched to a fire, according to a statement by the Maroa Police Department.

Maroa Police Chief Robert Fitzgerald said Maroa Countryside Fire Protection District requested their assistance after a fire involved an injured person.

It's not clear what type of fire or how the person was hurt. We also don't know how badly the person was injured.

Illinois State Police and the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal were also called to assist in the investigation.

Police said Matthew R. Broadhacker was arrested and booked into the Macon County Detention Center.

Broadhacker has been charged with one count aggravated battery, one count domestic battery, and one count murder with intent to kill or injure.

Maroa police said no additional information was available. Illinois State Police responded to WAND's request for information and said an update would be available Tuesday.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
