Bloomington approves new elevator for Grossinger Motors Arena

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WAND) - The Grossinger Motors Arena will be getting a new elevator.

The Bloomington City Council approved the measure Monday to spend $610,000 for the elevator to be installed in the city-owned arena.

The Illinois Attorney General's Office gave the city until the end of the year to install a public elevator.

It will bring the building in compliance with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act.

The city has spent around $957,000 to make the space ADA-compliant.

Existing elevators are near entertainers' dressing rooms and are closed to the public for security reasons.
